Elden Ring Mobile is the Android adaptation of the masterpiece directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, which in 2022 deservedly took home dozens of Game of the Year awards. This portable version of the game provides the same action RPG experience that it offers on PC and consoles but adapts from the traditional game purchase to a free-to-play system that is much more widespread in Android operating systems.
Rise again, Tarnished
The story of Elden Ring Mobile is set in the Lands Between, a fictional continent with a medieval style, once ruled by a host of gods and demigods but now dominated by various factions and all kinds of monsters. You will be able to control one of the Tarnished, a member of a group of creatures banished from the Lands Between, who has been summoned back after the destruction of the Elden Ring. Now, it is up to you to restore the Golden Order.
Unlimited action and epic battles
As you could expect nothing less, one of Elden Ring Mobile's key features is its combat system and, specifically, its legendary boss fights. You will face hundreds of different enemies while exploring the Lands Between and, in its characteristic souls-like style, any one of them can defeat you in battle if you are careless and make too many mistakes. However, the game really shines during boss fights. These duels usually occur in specific settings, and the enemies you face can be enormous. Luckily, you can ask for help from other players and NPCs in these situations.
A 100% multiplayer experience
Similarly to the PC and console version, in Elden Ring Mobile, you must stay connected to the Internet to get the full experience. Players can communicate inside the game world, leaving messages with tips or tricks for other players. What's more, you can summon your friends for help in some of the more difficult battles... or, if you so choose, you can even invade other players, making the experience more challenging, tense, and fun. The online component of the game is absolutely vital for maximum enjoyment.
Elden Ring Mobile is Tencent's bid to compete against Genshin Impact, another open-world action RPG that offers outstanding quality, both visually and in terms of gameplay. Only time will tell if adapting Elden Ring to the free-to-play model is as successful as the aforementioned HoYoverse hit. However, if there's one thing we know about Tencent, it's that it is capable of just that and much more.
